You do not need a knife budget to look dangerous. With about fifty dollars and a little discipline, you can replace every default gun you actually touch with something dark, red and slightly threatening. Think of it as a full-buy loadout on an eco-round budget.
Prices below are rough ranges at the time of writing, mostly for Field-Tested copies. The skin market moves every day, so check live listings before you build your cart.
The ground rules
- Skin what you see. The guns you buy every round matter more than the ones you buy twice a month.
- Field-Tested is your friend. On dark designs, a low FT float looks almost as good as MW for a fraction of the price.
- No knife, no gloves. Yet. Both start well above this budget. We will get there.
- Theme over hype. A coherent red and black kit looks better than five random expensive skins.
The infected loadout
| Slot | Pick | Approx. price (USD) |
|---|---|---|
| T rifle | AK-47 | Slate | $3 – $8 |
| CT rifle | M4A4 | Evil Daimyo or M4A1-S | Blood Tiger | $1 – $5 |
| Sniper | AWP | Capillary | $1 – $4 |
| Scout | SSG 08 | Dragonfire | $5 – $13 |
| T pistol | Glock-18 | Candy Apple | $1 – $3 |
| CT pistol | USP-S | Blood Tiger | $1 – $4 |
| Deagle | Desert Eagle | Crimson Web | $3 – $10 |
| SMG | MP9 | Ruby Poison Dart | $0.50 – $2 |
| Total | roughly $16 – $49 |
Shop the low end of each range and you have room left over. Shop the high end and you are right at the line. Either way, every slot you actually use is covered.
Why these picks
AK-47 | Slate
Charcoal black with clean geometry. It is the dark base layer the rest of the loadout builds on, and it hides wear well, so FT is plenty. It came out of the Snakebite Case, which feels like fate.
M4A4 | Evil Daimyo or M4A1-S | Blood Tiger
Pick based on which M4 you actually run. Evil Daimyo brings a red and black demon mask. Blood Tiger brings red and black stripes. Both cost less than a round of drinks.
AWP | Capillary and SSG 08 | Dragonfire
Capillary wraps the rifle in vein-like linework over a dark body, which is about as on-brand as it gets for a few dollars. Dragonfire is the splurge of this build: a red dragon on the Scout for the player who lives on jump shots.
Pistols: Candy Apple, Blood Tiger, Crimson Web
You hold a pistol every single round, so this is where cheap skins pay off most. Candy Apple is pure red on the Glock, Blood Tiger matches your CT rifle, and the Crimson Web Deagle brings the classic red-and-black web to your one-taps.
MP9 | Ruby Poison Dart
A red SMG literally named after poison. For about a dollar. We did not have to try very hard on this one.
An eco round is a mindset. So is a fifty-dollar loadout. Both end with you looking better than you have any right to.
Optional upgrades
- Swap the Slate for an AK-47 | Redline (FT). The icon. It usually costs several times more than the Slate, so drop the Scout skin to stay near budget.
- Upgrade the Deagle later. Desert Eagle | Code Red is the endgame red Deagle, but it lives well above this budget.
- Add cheap stickers. A single dark or red sticker on the AK playside can tie the whole look together for pocket change.
How to stretch fifty dollars further
- Shop the float, not the label. A 0.16 FT often looks nearly identical to MW on dark skins.
- Skip StatTrak on budget picks. The kill counter costs extra and adds nothing to how the skin looks.
- Buy the guns you use most first. AK, M4, pistols. The rest can wait for next payday.
- Check the total, not the item. Small premiums across eight slots add up fast.
What comes next
Once the guns are infected, the next mutation is gloves, then a knife. Budget options for both exist, but they start above this build’s price on their own. Save up, keep an eye on the shop for well-priced high floats, and bite when the price is right. Your loadout is already infected. Now it just needs teeth.
